Ellie Goulding- Your Song Lyrics.

Your Song lyrics

It's a little bit funny
This feeling inside.
I'm not one of those who can
Easily hide.

I don't have much money
But boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where
We both could live.

So excuse me forgetting
But these things I do.
See I've forgotten if
They're green or they're blue.

Anyway the thing is...
What I really mean...
Yours are the sweetest eyes
I've ever seen.

And you can tell everybody
This is your song.
It maybe quite simple but
Now that it's done
I hope you don't mind (x2)
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is
Now you're in the world.

If I was a sculptor
But then again no.
Or a girl who makes potions in
A travelling show.
I know it's not much but
It's the best I can do.
My gift is my song and
This one's for you.

Oh... (x10)

And you can tell everybody
This is your song.
It maybe quite simple but
Now that it's done
I hope you don't mind (x2)
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is
Now you're in the world.

G325- Creativity.

The four characteristics of creativity:
* Imagination- 'I can create things in my mind' this is true because before I write a piece I will always think it through first in my mind.
*Purpose - ' Explores alternatives' for example, in my AS coursework I tried various different magazine titles and photos.
*Originality - ' I don't always believe things just because everyone else does' I like to have my own opinion.
*Value - 'I stop and think about how I am doing in my own work' in my coursework or revision to think about the progress I am making.

What features of your work would you say are original to you?
The features of my work which are original to me is my title of my magazine and the headlines which I thought of myself.

Which media texts and producers have influenced your creative decisions?
The likes of magazines such as NME influenced me for my ideas on my music magazine.

How successfully does your work engage its audience and provoke its interest?
My work did engage it's audience because it was targeted at the right age group and 'band' of people. My work successfully did this by the way I used various colours throughout the magazine and made my photos large and eye-catching. My headlines used were also created to attract my audience's attention into reading the magazine.

Consider some of the creative choices you had to make during the course of your production – how to use cameras, lighting, dialogue, colour etc. How did you make these decisions, and how did these contribute to the final production?
I had to make various creative choices

Possible setting for music video:

I went out to Norwich, Tombland to do some filming of the setting. This could be a possible choice of setting to use for my music video as the area is quite old and has a lot of character, which would fit well with my music video theme.

Audience research

For my audience research I thought that it would be a good idea to film students at my sixthform. I asked various questions about music videos and it was interesting to hear their feedback. The video helped me to see what ideas I could use in my own video.

G325- SECTION A: Discuss how far digital technology has enhanced the creative process in your media production work.

Discuss how far digital technology has enhanced the creative process in your media production work.

Digital Technology has enhanced the creative process in my media production work. I think that it is quite clear that digital technology has influenced my work at both AS and A level. At AS, we made short videos and trailers, this enabled me to get an insight into the way cameras work, the varying effects on the camera led me to make more professional actions for my work. However, for my coursework I chose to make a music magazine. I used the SLR camera in my production work, this enhanced my creative ideas as I was able to take various shots and in different lighting etc. I then went on to make my magazine and edit my photos on Photoshop and Indesign programmes on the mac computers. By using these programmes, I was able to have an enormous amount of elements of creativity throughout my work. I was then influenced to develop my ideas further, such as, I explored various colour themes and tone which would stand out on my music magazine. Photoshop allowed me to be creative in the sense that I could change the effects of photos that had been taken on the SLR camera, for example, the changing of lips, hair etc. This definately enhanced my work and gave me a flavour of something different and imaginative.

At A level, I am now focusing on creating a music video and a Digi pack and advertisement to go with the video as well. In a way, digital technology is playing an even bigger part in my media production work than at AS level. This is due to the fact, I am using the HD video cameras to create my video. On the camera, I can take photos as well as video and turn the camera around to even record myself. That it itself, gives me more of a leeway to create something less original and boring. Also, on the camera I am going to video various shots and video from different angles. The after effects programme and imovie will definately enhance the creative process in my media production work. For my music video, I am interested in using different effects such as sketch themes throughout. By using after effects, I can make my creative thoughts be true and the effects may also influence me to think of other ideas such as the rotation of the film or even simply changing the effects of the weather. All of the little creative processes which are added together from the enhancement of creativity from the digital technology, makes my production work a lot more stronger. Other aspects of digital technology has influenced my creative work, such as, the use of computers allows me to gain ideas from the internet. By using youtube, I can have an insight into the bad and good types of music videos. I then can explore the different types of videos used, and some elements of such videos will lead me to create something out of the ordinary.

Research- Music Video presentation.

Harder, better, faster, stronger- Daft Punk.

It is very popular and the dance is used alot. The writing used and the timing also fitted well. It is very simple, yet is so clever, and is very well known. I think that it would be good to achieve something which is simplisitic, but yet has an amamzing outcome. However, the video can get a bit boring and would be a lot better if there was some kind of story line used as well.

Amazing viral webcam video:

When researching effective music videos, I came across this video. I think it is very capturing and uses cool effects. It is also very different and therefore, makes it  rememberable. The lighting in the various webcams makes the video also more interesting. High key lighting is also used to give it that positive feel. When you watch this video you can't help but smile as it is just a bit of fun, but has had a great outcome.

Example- Watch The Sun Come Up.

I like this video as it has a story line, and uses various places such as the bedroom, the street etc. It also switches to cartoon sketchy images sometimes, which I really like as it just gives it that different effect and makes the video stand out more. Clips of him looking in the mirror and the camera is also successful and looks good when he is singing the song whilst walking. The colour scheme of orange/red and blue has also been thought about well. The shot when they are leaning against the wall at night with the light on is very effective and creates a warm scenery. The scene with the water is also a very good idea, and something I could consider when constructing my music video. The fact that the video ends in cartoon makes it rememberable.

The Script- For The First Time.

This is the URL for the video 'For The First Time' by The Script : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtCpC8jE_Cs. I could not use the embedding code for this video due to copyright. However, I used this video as research for my music video. It is very effective and has an emotional and interesting story line.  The video starts off with the focus of the girl. The camera shots used are good as there is a variation of long shots then close up shots. A lot of natural light is also used to make the video look more 'real life', which is what I hope to use in my music video. Photos are also used which is another thing I have thought of including in my music video. The focus of the video then switches back to the band singing the song. That is much more interesting to watch rather than just a plain story line. Different lighting when the band is playing is also created, in contrast to the high key lighting used in the story line. The video is also quite romantic and has a 'nice' feel about it, something I would hope to achieve in my video!

Original Bohemian Like You Video:

I think the original version of the video is cool and effective and I like the use of karoke. The lyrics on the screen is also a good idea, and something I may consider when making my music video. The miming of the words is simple to use, but interesting so I am going to try to have some miming in my video. However, the actual music video is going to be different as I want to create a story line within my video, to make it more engaging to watch!

Audience Research Questions:

1) What genre of music do you like best?

2) What do you look for in a music video?

3) Do you prefer a story line or a general band playing?

4) Do you prefer more emotional songs or more upbeat and happy?

5) Do you prefer teenage actors or older?

We are then going to interview sixthformers to find out some answers, which will helps us in the construction of our music video.

Why did I choose music video over children's tv programme?

After various research, I decided that I wanted to do a music video. I chose to do a music video because I have much more interest for making a music video and feel like I have creative ideas for the video. A music video would be more my style because I have a passion for music. I also would like choosing the type of genre what the music is. I also like to research into various song lyrics and then think of the meaning behind these lyrics to suit an appropriate video!

Action plan.

Music video:
1) Research various music videos and ones from previous A2 students.
2) Think of possible song choices.
3) Research the lyrics.
4) Audience research into what types of music and videos the public enjoy.
5) Post video of vox pop on blog.
6) Possible questionnaire on music for public.
7) Choose song.
8) Think of video story line and ideas.
9) Research into what characters/actors we would use in video.
10) Choose the actors we want in video.
11) Research various scenerey and theme ideas.
12) Sort out the costumes
13) Start shooting some clips.
14) Edit the video.

What is creativity?

Creativity is when you are able to make different ideas and then put these ideas across in a less boring way.  These ideas can come from your imagination and you can be inspired by various aspects around you.

Marking- Kerry and Harriets.

From looking at both Kerry's and Harriet's blogs I can see that they have both put lots of effort and work into their final pieces and evaluations. I would give Kerry a level 4 (33 marks) and Harriet a high level 3 (30 marks).

Kerry used creativity as well as good content within her final piece and evaluation. She also used a variety of methods to get across her evaluation such as, a video commentary amd radio broadcast. This makes it just that little bit more exciting to read and shows that she has put thought and effort into her work. Her magazine advertisment and photos were also at a very strong standard. You can see that the pictures are well photoshopped and edited in a clever way.

I gave Harriet a slightly lower mark then Kerry due to the fact she did not seem to have as much creativity as Kerry did. However, her short film was very good and interesting to watch and humour was put into the clip. The magazine review was also structured neatly. Harriet's evaluation is also good in length and answered the questions well.
